IODOPHOR DISPENSER

--Bob Regent

This is an easy to make, easy to use, Iodophor dispenser.

I typically make up only 1 gallon of Iodophor solution at a time and slosh it around in my fermenters to sanitize them. The problem was measuring out the small amount of Iodophor to make-up a 12.5ppm 1 gallon solution.

  1. Get a used mouth rinse dispenser bottle (ACT or similar).
  2. Using a pipette or other fairly accurate instrument, measure 3ml of water.
  3. Fill the dispenser cup with the measured water and mark the water level on the side of the cup. 3ml is the amount needed to make a 12.5ppm solution in 1 gallon.
  4. Remove the inner fill stem of the bottle using  needle nose pliers.
  5. Rinse out any remaining product and fill with full strength Iodophor
  6. Replace the inner fill stem

Now just squeeze the bottle until the Iodophor reaches the fill line and you've got the perfect amount for a 1-gallon solution.
