Congratulations to our Best of Show Winner this year, Matt McDougal of the Brew Angels for his outstanding English Barleywine.

Also, I want to thank all of our sponsors, and especially Melissa of Golden Pacific who came to my rescue finals day and made data processing possible.

Following the list of winners are the results tabulated for all of the entries. A brief description on how to find the results for your beer entry is included right before this comprehensive list.  Included in the following list of winners are the MCAB qualifying entries (denoted with an "*"). Not all styles judged were MCAB styles, and for those, the top place finisher is noted. Some of the MCAB styles did not make the top ranking amongst the substyles they were grouped with but were, nonetheless, at the top of their substyle. Finally, my apologies for any errors or omissions. We've done our best to proof the list, but it's hard to catch everything.

To find your World Cup of Beer '98 scores, scan down the "Code" list. The first 5 digits of the "Code" are the last 5 digits in your phone number. The next two digits are the style and subcategory code followed by the entry number assigned your beer at log-in. J-1 through J-4 represent judges who evaluated your beers. Some beers were passed on to finals without any score being assigned to it, others were evaluated in both prelims and finals. Smaller categories that did not require prescreening to limit entries to a manageable number were passed directly on to final evaluation. The judging sheets should be mailed back to you shortly, but for now, at least you have this:)))

For instance, suppose your phone number is 555-8462. Scanning down the list to code 5-8462-E4-526 tells you that this was an English Barleywine, entry number 526. The first bottle of this beer scored a 29 in prelims and the second bottle scored a 37.7 in finals. (There are some deductions one can make from this and we'll leave it to you to do that.) It also shows that the final bottle was ranked Best of Show when compared to the rest of the first place finishing beers. If you want to know who judged the beers, you can click here to get a crude listing of who is who. Many thanks by BAM to those people who so selflessly consumed your beers:)))
